Father's Day

It was M's first "real" Father's Day this year, and I wanted to do something special, so I scoured Pinterest for ideas. Of course I found 101 great ideas, but two really stuck out to me.

The first was to do a questionnaire of sorts that Pumpkin fills out all about M.

M loved this and hung it on the fridge right away. I think this is something that I will do every year for him, just to see how the answers change. (M's hair isn't really red, but his beard kind of is, and his eyes aren't blue. Also, he is not 40 feet tall or 60 pounds.)

My second project for M was to take a picture of each of the kids holding a "D" and a picture of them together holding an "A", then put them in a 3 picture frame, spelling out DAD. I figured M would like this, but I didn't realize just how much! He LOVED it, and set it out for everyone to see and made a point to show people it when they came over. It made me happy how much he liked it.

To celebrate, our parents came over and we had breakfast, then headed to a lake to have a fire and fish. It was really nice to spend the day with everyone, and get outside and enjoy some fresh air. I think M had a really good "first" Father's Day, which is all that mattered. :)

What did you do for Father's Day?

Ready For The Sun

Our sun has been pretty hit and miss lately here. Some days its 80 degrees, and then the next its 45. Typical for our area, but still frustrating! We had a pretty nice day the other day though, so I busted out Miss L's sunglasses.

She looks pretty happy about her glasses in this pic, but don't let her fool you! She kept pulling on them and whining. I want her to get used to them early on so she grows up wearing them. Pumpkin never minded having his on, and even now he asks to wear them. I have extremely sensitive eyes, and I don't want my children to have any problems with theirs.

When did you first put sunglasses on your LO? Did they mind them?

Roly-Poly

Miss L is trying to roll over! She can only make it to her side right now, and only to her right side, but its a start. And it is so adorable to watch her!

Look how cute she looks! I can't wait (or actually I can since she is already growing too fast!) for her to make it to her belly. She isn't the biggest fan of tummy time right now though, so I think once she is able to make it all the way over, she might cry! It may help her like tummy time more though, fingers crossed for that.

When did your LO start to roll?

Society

I can almost guarantee a giggle out of Miss L when I take her diaper off and she gets to lay free on her changing table. She loves being naked. She isn't the only one either. Pumpkin loves being "maked", as he says it, too. And to be perfectly honest, I don't mind it either! There is something freeing and comfy about being naked, and Miss L has already figured it out.

So I was thinking the other day. She isn't ashamed or shy about being naked. She doesn't know any better, that  being naked in public isn't acceptable. If we never told her different, she may grow up wanting to be naked, like Pumpkin still does. To me its a little sad that society tells us what is acceptable and what isn't. I am a little jealous of how free and comfortable babies and children are. They have no shame, and I think its wonderful.

Do you think its sad that society tells us what is ok and what isn't? Would you spend your time naked if you could?!

I Won!

I never win anything, but I actually did the other day!

I follow this great blog, The Roddy Bride, and she did a giveaway the other day, and I actually won! And the prize is AWESOME!!!!! Check it out!

Sorry for the crappy cell pic, but its a Velata fondue set! Here is her page. You have to check it out, these things are the coolest! I think M and I might be having a fondue date this weekend :)

But this got me thinking. If I can get 25 followers, I think I will do a giveaway too. So you need to recruit some people and get me to 25!

Do you like fondue? What would you like to see given away?

1 Week Down

We have made it a week in the crib! Wahoo!!!! But oh man was it hard to finally make that first step!

M was trying to figure out every which way to get her crib in our room, but I finally had to put my foot down and say no, as much as I wanted to say yes. If L's crib came in our room, I knew it would never leave. Plus, we are going to need "our" time at some point! So, we grinned and bared it and put Miss L in her crib. Of course I had to rock her to sleep first and make sure she was completely out before I laid her down. And she slept all night perfectly, which gave me mixed feelings. Shouldn't she need me a little more during the night?!

She has been sleeping every night in her crib now, except for once, when M gave in and brought her into our room while I was at work. I was so worried about it since we had created a monster, but she has done perfect. We are getting more used to her not being in our room, but I do still miss her. I make up for it every morning by letting her lay in bed with me though :)

How did transitioning into the crib go for you? Did you cheat every once in awhile?!

Extreme Makeover: Nursery Edition Part III

This isn't really "nursery edition", but it was done because of the nursery. I didn't want Pumpkin to feel left out that Peanut was getting all the attention, so I redid his room when I did the nursery. And the theme? Pirates!!! I think it turned out pretty cute, and I still add random things as I come across them.

He has bunk beds, so for the top bunk I just did a plain blue comforter, and for the bottom (the one he sleeps on) I found a super cute pirate quilt!

I hung a "treasure map" on the wall

Here is the pirate quilt a little closer, and the pillow that goes with the quilt

My mom found this awesome banner that I hung in the corner

She also found this pirate hat, so I hung that on the wall next to his window with 2 rolled up "treasure maps"

After digging through some boxes of my stuff from when I was a kid, we found my stuffed animal net. I hung that in the corner above the bunk beds and I draped a pirate bandanna off one side

I painted the letter of Pumpkin's name in pirate themes (anchors, treasure map, stripes, and skull and bones) and hung them on his wall along with 2 pirate swords

Getting Pumpkin to leave these swords alone is quite the challenge!

And that is Pumpkin's pirate themed room! I think it made him feel special that his room got attention too after all the time I was putting into Peanut's. It made me feel really good to get his room all decorated and done too (part of my nesting I went through!).

Do you like the pirate theme? What other themes do you like?
